New Chair Jordan and the Executive Secretariat get to work

Madrid /Amman / 12.01.2022

Madrid – The first official meeting was held between the new Chair of the Council of Members, Dr Khaled Hanifet, the Minister of Agriculture of Jordan, and the Executive Director of the IOC, Mr. Abdellatif Ghedira and his team to review the programme of activities for 2022.

The Chair expressed his great satisfaction with the steps taken by the Executive Secretariat to implement the decisions adopted by the Council of Members at its 114th session in Georgia and assured his support and availability for the success of the Jordanian mandate at the head of the Organisation.

The Executive Secretariat and the Jordanian Chair teams approved the programme for the 115th session of the Council of Members, which will be held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on 8 June. The plenary session will be preceded on 7 June by the 58th meeting of the Advisory Committee and followed the next day by a major international media event. The technical committees – Administrative and Financial Affairs; Economy, Promotion and Observatory and Information Systems; Technology, Training and Environment; and Standardisation and Research – will meet virtually the week before.

It was agreed at this meeting that the Chair would come to IOC headquarters on 23 February 2022 to participate in the ceremony to raise the flag of Uzbekistan, the 18th member of the IOC, as well as the official handover ceremony with the outgoing Chair, Mr George Svanidze of Georgia.

The editorial board of Olivæ magazine was also set up. The 129th issue will be dedicated to olive growing in Jordan. An ever-fascinating editorial project that challenges the best professionals in the sector from around the world. More news will soon be available on the website.
