L’Iran deposita ratifica accordo COI alle Nazioni Unite

New York  – Il 24 ottobre scorso la Repubblica Islamica dell’Iran ha depositato,  presso l’ufficio del Segretario Generale delle Nazioni Unite a New York, la ratifica dell’accordo mondiale dell’olio di oliva e delle olive da tavola.  Con questo atto l’Iran entra a far parte a pieno titolo del Consiglio Oleicolo Internazionale. La notizia giunge ad un mese dalla celebrazione della 108^ sessione del Consiglio dei membri, che si riunirà sotto la presidenza di turno dell’Argentina, e che si svolgerà dal 19 al 23 novembre prossimi a Madrid.

Con una produzione di poco inferiore alle 10 mila tonnellate l’anno di oli di oliva vergini in totale, l’Iran rappresenta il Paese produttore più ad Est dell’emisfero boreale. Lo scorso anno ha importato 3,5 mila tonnelate e consumato circa 12mila tonnellate di prodotto. La Repubblica islamica dell’Iran ha sempre svolto un ruolo attivo all’interno del Consiglio Oleicolo Internazionale. Nel maggio del 2016 ha ospitato ed organizzato  anche una delle riunioni annuali del comitato consultivo del COI. Con l’adesione dell’Iran sale a 15 il numero dei membri del COI.

The IOC and the University of Navarra, through OHIS (the Olive Health Information System), a platform dedicated to research on the health properties of olive oil and table olives, publish a weekly or bi-weekly collection of scientific articles and summaries of research carried out in this field.
