The International Olive Council will send a diplomatic mission to Pakistan in the coming days. The delegation will be led by Executive Director Abdellatif Ghedira, who will be accompanied by Mounir Fourati, Head of the External Relations Department of the Executive Secretariat.
On the agenda are a series of meetings with Pakistani authorities, ambassadors of member countries, and the press. Of particular importance is the IOC’s international seminar which will be held via IOC headquarters from 8:00 am on Thursday 21 October 2021. The seminar will be an opportunity for Pakistani government authorities, trade representatives, scientists and the olive oil industry to take steps toward acceding to the International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives, which the IOC implements under the auspices of the United Nations.
Guided tours are also planned with the Pakistani Chambers of Commerce, experimental companies and research centres.
The objective of this mission is to strengthen international cooperation and bring the Pakistani olive oil sector closer to the IOC and promote the application of IOC standards in the worldwide markets.
