Albanian Minister of Agriculture visits the IOC

Discussions between the two parties focused on exploring ways and means to revitalise Albania's participation in IOC activities and to take advantage of the IOC's expertise to develop the Albanian olive sector.

Frida Krifca, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Albania paid a courtesy visit to the International Olive Council on 6 October 2021. She was accompanied by H.E. Gazmend Barbullushi, Ambassador of Albania in Madrid. They were welcomed by the Executive Director, Mr. Abdellatif Ghedira, and his two deputies, Mr. Jaime Lillo and Mr. Mustafa’ Sepetci as well as by the heads of the External Relations, Mr. Mounir Fourati, and Observatory Departments Mr. Michele Bungaro.

Discussions between the two parties focused on exploring ways and means to revitalise Albania’s participation in IOC activities and to take advantage of the IOC’s expertise to develop the Albanian olive sector.

With this in mind, Deputy Executive Director Jaime Lillo gave a brief presentation on the IOC’s activities and the tools it can make available to member countries.

The Minister expressed her interest in all the means made available to Members, while regretting that these support mechanisms were not widely known at the various levels of her country’s olive sector.

After a presentation of the Observatory by Deputy Executive Director Mustafá Sepetçi, it was decided to plan a virtual meeting between the stakeholders of the Albanian olive sector and the heads of the IOC operational units to exchange information and establish a roadmap for technical assistance to the Albanian olive oil sector.

The visit ended with an exchange of gifts and souvenir photos.

 

La ministre albanaise de l’Agriculture de l’Albanie visite le COI

Mme Frida Krifca, ministre de l’Agriculture et du Développement rural de l’Albanie, a effectué le 6 octobre 2021 une visite de courtoisie au Conseil oléicole international. Elle était accompagnée par S.E. M. Gazmend Barbullushi, Ambassadeur d’Albanie à Madrid. Ils ont été accueillis par le Directeur exécutif M. Abdellatif Ghedira et ses deux adjoints, M. Jaime Lillo et M. Mustafa’ Sepetci, ainsi que par les chefs des Départements des Relations extérieures, M. Mounir Fourati, et de l’Observatoire M. Michele Bungaro.

Les discussions entre les deux parties ont porté sur l’examen des voies et moyens de redynamiser la participation de l’Albanie aux activités du COI et de tirer profit de l’expertise de l’Organisation pour développer le secteur oléicole albanais.

C’est dans cette optique que M. Jaime Lillo, Directeur exécutif adjoint, a fait une présentation sommaire des activités du COI et des outils qu’il peut mettre à la disposition des pays membres.

La ministre a fait part de son intérêt pour l’ensemble de moyens mis à la disposition des Membres, tout en regrettant que le secteur oléicole de son pays ne soit pas au courant de tous ces mécanismes d’accompagnement.

Après une présentation de l’Observatoire par M. Mustafá Sepetçi, Directeur exécutif adjoint, il a été décidé d’organiser une réunion en visioconférence entre les intervenants du secteur oléicole albanais et les chefs des Unités opérationnelles du COI dans le but d’échanger des informations et d’établir une feuille de route portant sur une assistance technique au secteur albanais de l’huile d’olive.

Cette visite s’est conclue par un échange de cadeaux et des photos souvenirs.
