World catalogue of the main olive tree varieties

A virtual meeting on the World catalogue of the main genetically authenticated olive tree varieties was held on July 23 last

The Executive Secretariat held a virtual meeting to discuss the World catalogue of the main genetically authenticated olive tree varieties.

Some of the world’s most important experts on the cataloguing of varieties attended this meeting: Luciana Baldoni, Diego Barranco, Giora Ben-Ari, Bouchaïb Khadari, Mehdi Mazinani, Hristofor Miho, Conception Muñoz-Diez, Sara Oulbi, Enzo Perri, Raúl de la Rosa, Isabel Trujillo, and the coordinator of the IOC network of germplasm banks, Luis Rallo. Abdelkrim Adi, Catarina Bairrao and Pablo Morello attended from the IOC team.

During the meeting, the group assigned experts to oversee each chapter of the catalogue. They also discussed which varieties to include in the catalogue.

The next meeting on this subject will take place on 14 September 2021, where the list of expert contributors will be concluded as well as the list of varieties.

Réunion virtuelle sur le Catalogue mondial des principales variétés d’olivier génétiquement authentifiées

Le 23 juillet 2021, le Secrétariat exécutif a organisé une réunion virtuelle consacrée au Catalogue mondial des principales variétés d’olivier génétiquement authentifiées.

Quelques-uns des plus grands experts mondiaux en matière de catalogage des variétés ont participé à cette rencontre : Luciana Baldoni, Diego Barranco, Giora Ben-Ari, Bouchaïb Khadari, Mehdi Mazinani, Hristofor Miho, Conception Muñoz-Diez, Sara Oulbi, Enzo Perri, Raúl de la Rosa, Isabel Trujillo, et le coordinateur du réseau des banques de germoplasme du COI, Luis Rallo. Le Conseil oléicole international était représenté par Abdelkrim Adi, Catarina Bairrao et Pablo Morello.

À cette occasion, le groupe a désigné les experts chargés de superviser les différents chapitres du catalogue et proposé les variétés qui figureront dans le catalogue.

La prochaine réunion de ce groupe est prévue le 14 septembre 2021 pour établir les listes définitives des experts contributeurs et des variétés concernées.
