The Executive Secretariat of the International Olive Council (IOC) had the honour of welcoming H.E. Mr Nizar Hani, Minister of Agriculture of Lebanon, to its headquarters in Madrid on 6 October 2026.
The Minister was accompanied by senior officials from the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture and representatives of the Embassy of Lebanon in Spain, including Lebanese Ambassador to Spain H.E. Mr Hani Chemaitelly. He was welcomed by IOC Executive Director Jaime Lillo, together with the Deputy Executive Directors and other IOC officials.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss cooperation between Lebanon and the IOC and to exchange views on matters of mutual interest concerning the olive sector. The discussions also addressed Lebanon’s engagement in the work and governance of the Organisation.
The Executive Director reaffirmed the IOC’s commitment to supporting Lebanon, an important olive-producing country and longstanding member of the Organisation, and to further strengthening cooperation with the Lebanese authorities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Jaime Lillo invited Minister Hani to attend the forthcoming session of the IOC Council of Members, to be held in Marrakech, Morocco.
