Marrakech was the recent venue for the closing meeting of IRRIGAOLIVO, a four-year project carried out in Morocco and Syria. Aimed at achieving rational water use through the application of new irrigation techniques, the project has analysed plant response to different irrigation regimes over time to optimise how this scarce and precious resource is used. Drawn up at the IOC Executive
Secretariat with the assistance of internationally acclaimed experts, the project received funding from the Common Fund for Commodities and the OPEC Fund for International Development.
A video created specially by the project executing agency was screened at the wrap-up meeting and can be viewed by anyone interested at the following link:
A dedicated website ( http://www.icarda.org/olive-lrrigation-project/teaser ) has also been set up to track project activities and to post all the information about IRRIGAOLIVO.
