علم يدرس المحيط الحيوي (والمقصود به ذلك الجزء من الأرض الذي توجد به حياة وتتحدد خصائصه عن طريق تفاعل الكائنات الحية مع بعضها البعض و مع البيئة المحيطة بها). كما يدرس هذا العلم أجزاءًا من المحيط الحيوي نفسه.
