EXPORT FIGURES OF TABLE OLIVES IN THE EUROPEAN UNION (EU-27)

In December of the 2022/2023 crop year, the unit value of extra-EU exports of table olives stood at €320 per 100kg (+11.8% compared to the same period previous crop year or -1.5% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 26 842.8 tonnes (-5.7% compared to the same period previous crop year or -11.3% compared to the previous month).
As for first estimates of the 2021/2022 crop year, extra-EU exports of table olives reached 322 670 tonnes for an estimated value of €1.002 billion (+3.5% and +15.3% , respectively, compared to the previous crop year).
Spanish exports of table olives reached 321 287 tonnes in the 2021/2022 crop year for an estimated value of €823.7 million, placing it in first place followed by Greece with 185 196 tonnes and €644.4 million; Portugal with 42 019 tonnes and €50.3 million ; and Italy with 30 898 tonnes and €112.1 million.

In terms of volumes by product category, 84.2% of total imports were under code 20057000 (olives, prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid (excl. frozen)) in the 2020/2021 crop year, followed by imports under 20019065 with 5.3%, 07099210 with 5.2%, 07112010 with 3.4%, and the remaining 1.9% under 07108010.
In December of the 2022/2023 crop year, the unit value of extra-EU exports of table olives stood at €320 per 100kg (+11.8% compared to the same period previous crop year or -1.5% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 26 842.8 tonnes (-5.7% compared to the same period previous crop year or -11.3% compared to the previous month).

Spain
The IOC’s figures for Spain from December of the 2022/2023 crop year put the unit value of extra-EU exports at €284 per 100kg (+5% compared to the same period previous crop year or -3.7% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 15 976.7 tonnes (-6.7% compared to the same period previous crop year or -15.2% compared to the previous month).
Spanish exports mainly went to Australia(-31.4%), Brazil(-55.8%), Canada(-16.6%), Japan(-1.6%), Russian Federation(+2.7%), Arabia Saudi(-41.3%), United kingdom(+1%), United States(+38.7%), Italy(-17.8%), Germany(-18%), France(+15.8%), and Portugal(+101.6%), compared to the same period the previous crop year.
The unit value of intra-EU exports stood at €226 per 100kg (+5.3% compared to the same period previous crop year or -10.1% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 11 925.7 tonnes (+8.2% compared to the same period previous crop year or -1.4% compared to the previous month).
Greece
The IOC’s figures for Greece from December of the 2022/2023 crop year put the unit value of extra-EU exports at €381 per 100kg (+22.8% compared to the same period previous crop year or -2% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 6 991.6 tonnes (-13.2% compared to the same period previous crop year or -6.3% compared to the previous month). The volume exported to United States was -17.6%, Italy was +21%, Germany was -4.1%, Romania was -46.1%, Australia was -57.6%, and Albania was +21.2% compared to the same period the previous crop year.
The unit value of intra-EU exports stood at €348 per 100kg (+24.7% compared to the same period previous crop year or -10.1% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 5 641.1 tonnes (-22.3% compared to the same period previous crop year or -1.5% compared to the previous month).
Portugal
The IOC’s figures for Portugal from December of the 2022/2023 crop year put the unit value of extra-EU exports at €285 per 100kg (+18% compared to the same period previous crop year or +0.7% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 1 432 tonnes (+96.5% compared to the same period previous crop year or -5.8% compared to the previous month). The volume exported to United States was +289.2%, Russia was +115.7%, Canada was -54.6%, Brazil was +76.7%, Spain was +17.8%, and France was -59.1% compared to the same period the previous crop year.
The unit value of intra-EU exports stood at €73 per 100kg (+6.9% compared to the same period previous crop year or -17.3% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 3 727.1 tonnes (+14.7% compared to the same period previous crop year or -38.1% compared to the previous month).
Italy
The IOC’s figures for Italy from December of the 2022/2023 crop year put the unit value of extra-EU exports at €416 per 100kg (+29.4% compared to the same period previous crop year or -1.7% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 1 224.2 tonnes (-25.3% compared to the same period previous crop year or +22.5% compared to the previous month).
Extra-EU exports mainly went to Australia(+9.7%), Canada(-34.4%), Japan(-54.2%), United kingdom(-12.8%), United States(-43%), compared to the same period the previous crop year.
The unit value of intra-EU exports stood at €370 per 100kg (+12.4% compared to the same period previous crop year or -21.6% compared to the previous month) while the export volume stood at 916.2 tonnes (+21.2% compared to the same period previous crop year or +30.1% compared to the previous month).

In December, the unit value of exports stood at €416 per 100kg (+29.4% compared to the same period previous crop year or -1.7% compared to the previous month).
In December, the volume of exports stood at 1 224.2 tonnes (-25.3% compared to the same period previous crop year or +22.5% compared to the previous month). Exports mainly went to Australia(+9.7%), Canada(-34.4%), Japan(-54.2%), United kingdom(-12.8%), United States(-43%), compared to the same period the previous crop year.
