IMPORT FIGURES OF OLIVE OIL IN THE EXTRA-EU(27)

In February of the 2021/2022 crop year, the unit value index of extra-EU imports increased by +2.1% compared to the previous month. The unit value of extra-EU imports stood at €308 per 100kg (-3.6%). Also in February, the imports of the European Union from Tunisia reached 11 247.4 tonnes (+131.8%, compared to the previous month).

In the 2019/2020 crop year, extra-EU imports of olive oil reached 252 505 tonnes for an estimated value of €493.9 millions (+71.9% and +29.7% , respectively, compared to the previous crop year).

As for first estimates of the 2020/2021 crop year, extra-EU exports of olive oil reached 167 644 tonnes for an estimated value of €393.4 millions (-33.6% and -20.3% , respectively, compared to the previous crop year).

In terms of volumes by product category in the 2019/2020 crop year, 62.5% of total imports were under code 15091020 (extra virgin olive oil), followed by imports under code 15091010 (Virgin lampante) with 31.5%, 15099000 (Other olive oils) with 3.3%, and the remaining 2.7% under 15091080 (Virgin olive oil).

In February of the 2021/2022 crop year, the unit value index of extra-EU imports stood at 119 (+44.2% compared to the same period previous crop year or +2.1% compared to the previous month).

Also in February of the 2021/2022 crop year, the unit value of extra-EU imports stood at €308 per 100kg (+28.5% compared to the same period previous crop year or -3.6% compared to the previous month) while the import volume stood at 12 802.9 tonnes (-26.8% compared to the same period previous crop year or +96.2% compared to the previous month).

in February, extra-EU imports mainly came from Tunisia(-32.2%), Turkey(+443.9%), Argentina(-100%), Morocco(+239%), Peru(-41.5%), Syrian Arab Republic(+15.7%), compared to the same period the previous crop year.

Tunisia is the main partner of the European Union with a share of 87.9%, the import volume from this country stood at 11 247.4 tonnes (-32.2% compared to the same period previous crop year or +131.8% compared to the previous month). The table below shows imports by month and partner country of the European Union (tonnes).

The unit value of extra-EU imports from Tunisia stood at €302 per 100kg (+29.2% compared to the same period previous crop year or -1.9% compared to the previous month), while the unit value of total imports from outside the European Union was €308.1, (€-5.8).

In February of the 2021/2022 crop year, the unit value index of the extra-EU in stood at 119 (+44.2% compared to the same period previous crop year or +2.1% compared to the previous month).
