  • The trade figures for olive oil in the eight main markets in the first 8 months of the current crop year show a +17.4% compared to the same period the previous crop year.

  • Provisional data for the 2018/19 crop year point to a 2.7% increase, leaving import at 968 000 t. The import estimate for the 2019/20 crop year puts production at 994 000 t (+2.7%).

  • The United States accounts for around 36% of world imports of olive oil, placing it in first place followed by the European Union with 15%; Brazil with 8%; Japan with 7%; and Canada with 5%. This makes a total of 71% of imports worldwide. The rest of the importer countries account for just under 5%.
