IMPORT FIGURES OF OLIVE OIL IN THE EXTRA-EU(27)

In August of the 2021/2022 crop year, the unit value index of extra-EU imports increased by -5.4% compared to the previous month. The unit value of extra-EU imports stood at €317 per 100kg (-9.1%). Also in August, the imports of the European Union from Tunisia reached 11 642 tonnes (+40.7%, compared to the previous month).
In the 2019/2020 crop year, extra-EU imports of olive oil reached 252 505 tonnes for an estimated value of €493.9 million (+71.9% and +29.7% , respectively, compared to the previous crop year).
As for first estimates of the 2020/2021 crop year, extra-EU exports of olive oil reached 167 639 tonnes for an estimated value of €393.4 million (-33.6% and -20.3% , respectively, compared to the previous crop year).

In terms of volumes by product category in the 2019/2020 crop year, 62.5% of total imports were under code 15091020 (extra virgin olive oil), followed by imports under code 15091010 (Virgin lampante) with 31.5%, 15099000 (Other olive oils) with 3.3%, and the remaining 2.7% under 15091080 (Virgin olive oil).
In August of the 2021/2022 crop year, the unit value index of extra-EU imports stood at 130.3 (+35.3% compared to the same period previous crop year or -5.4% compared to the previous month).
Also in August of the 2021/2022 crop year, the unit value of extra-EU imports stood at €317 per 100kg (+18.5% compared to the same period previous crop year or -9.1% compared to the previous month) while the import volume stood at 13 749.3 tonnes (+89.3% compared to the same period previous crop year or +35.6% compared to the previous month).
in August, extra-EU imports mainly came from Tunisia(+167.3%), Turkey(+415.6%), Argentina(-51.6%), Morocco(-47.6%), Peru(-23.5%), Syrian Arab Republic(-27.5%), compared to the same period the previous crop year.
Tunisia is the main partner of the European Union with a share of 84.7%, the import volume from this country stood at 11 642 tonnes (+167.3% compared to the same period previous crop year or +40.7% compared to the previous month). The unit value of extra-EU imports from Tunisia stood at €311 per 100kg (+34.2% compared to the same period previous crop year or -11.1% compared to the previous month), while the unit value of total imports from outside the European Union was €316.9, (€-5.9).

Imports mainly came from Tunisia(+167.3%), Turkey(+415.6%), Argentina(-51.6%), Morocco(-47.6%), Peru(-23.5%), Syrian Arab Republic(-27.5%), compared to the same period the previous crop year.
Extra virgin olive oil
In August, the unit value index of imports stood at 132.5 (+21.1% compared to the same period previous crop year or -5.2% compared to the previous month).

In August, the unit value index of imports stood at 98.5 (+19% compared to the same period previous crop year or +0.8% compared to the previous month).
