What is the Secretariat?

The general brief of the Executive Secretariat is to assist the Council and its committees in their duties. It is composed of an Executive Director, international officials and such staff as are necessary to perform the tasks arising from the Agreement.

Because of the role it plays as administrator, moving force, coordinator and information centre, the Executive Secretariat is the mainstay of the organisation in that it has to implement the decisions and global strategy outlined by the Council

It also does important work in assembling and circulating information on the products of the olive and the olive oil and table olive markets from the economic and commercial points of view, as well as from the technical, agricultural and scientific angles, notably through a magazine, OLIVAE, which comes out twice a year in four separate English, French, Italian and Spanish editions.
Other documents, sets of statistics, studies, market research and practical handbooks are also prepared, either for Council sessions and committee meetings or for wider distribution.
