The IOC encourages scientific research into the medical and nutritional properties of group of advisors made up of medicaldoctors and research scientists
Until his death in the summer of 1995, the eminent scientist Professor Francisco GrandeCovián was the scientific counsellor of the IOC. In September of that same year, the IOC created a High-Level Scientific Advisory Board, whose present members areR. Carmena (Universidad de Valencia, Spain), M. Mancini (Università Federico II diNapoli, Italy) and B. Jacotot (Hôpital Henri Mondor, Créteil, France), who regularlyreview and evaluate the scientific research projects and information submitted to the IOC Executive Secretariat.
During the past decade, the International Olive Council and its Scientific Advisory Board have followed a working protocol for the selection of research projects in the area of olive oil and its implications in human nutrition, health and disease. |
