Field trip to Spain and France, 21–25 March 2009, arranged for a group of olive growers and officials from the Greek agriculture ministry.
An expert from the University of Perugia was sent on an assignment to Iran between 10 and 14 May 2009 to give advice on olive pruning in response to a request from the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture of Iran.
An expert from Córdoba Agricultural and Fisheries Research & Training Institute (IFAPA –Spain) travelled to Morocco from 20 to 22 February 2008 to help the national authorities to identify the varieties best suited to the country’s soil and climatic conditions.
Another expert was dispatched to Iran, 8–10 April 2008, to identify remedial measures for olive orchards hit by frost.
An expert from the National Italian Research Centre (CNR), Naples, went to Algeria between 8 and 11 April 2008 to help the Technical Institute for Fruit Tree and Vine Growing (ITAF) to find solutions to irrigation problems.
Two inhouse training opportunities are planned for four technical officers in all in 2009. Two technical officers from Tunisia and two from Syria will be trained for one week free of charge on the subjects of traceability and chemical testing respectively at research centres which have agreed to participate in this programme.tute from 28 January to 3 February 2008.
