CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

 

 


 

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON GENETIC OLIVE RESOURCES (DECEMBER 2008)

At the request of its member countries, the International Olive Council arranged an international seminar on the topic of genetic resources from 1 to 3 December 2008 within the framework of the project for the conservation, characterisation, collection and utilisation of genetic resources in olive (RESGEN EC/CFC/IOC). The seminar set out:

  • To analyse project results in the participant countries
  • To guarantee the applicability of project output
  • To facilitate involvement in new activities relating to genetic resources
  • To frame future guidelines for genetic resources and breeding
  • To draw up action plans for biodiversity conservation and study


At the close of the seminar, the participant experts and the Executive Secretariat drew up a series of conclusions and recommendations written into the Marrakech declaration on genetic resources. Read the declaration
